Sam Houser, Found of Rockstar Games says that

“We are very excited to be releasing the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV, the whole team is dedicated to bringing an amazing gaming experience to the PC. The game looks and plays beautifully on PC and we can’t wait for people to play it.”

Sony’s PlayStation 3 Exclusive Announcent August 4th

Well, I am sad to say that PlayStation Lifestyle announced that they are not realeasing the so called “Exclusive” information that they had about the game with the concept title “Hardware 2″ Why does this not surprise me? Read below the blog that PlayStation Lifestyle posted regarding this big disappointment. I’m not mad atcha PlayStation Lifestyle, just disappointed.

As many of you know, our site announced an upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive, Hardware 2. Initial information about this upcoming Incognito title was given as well. This was accompanied by the decision to hold off on showing screens until August 3rd.

Today is August 3rd and I’m sure a great many of you are looking for those screens. Those of you that frequent the site will know that we have undergone a change of policy and focus. We are no longer a site that specializes in insider information. This change was not done to spite the readers or to placate developers. This decision was made for the good of the industry. The industry is currently very secretive because of the intense competition between the 3 console manufacturers. Releasing inside information can have a devastating effect on a company because its competitors are better able to counteract any new features, games, or pricing changes based on the information. Our site does not want to be responsible for this type of occurrence.

We here at PSLS are sorry to disappoint all of you. We hope that you understand that once we receive permission to do so, we will release all screens that we have in our possession. We are still waiting for a response from the previous listed developers, as well as SCEE on the subject. Thank you for visiting us. We appreciate each and every one of you.

This is Chris Rah Osiris on behalf of PSLS, signing off.

I’m sorry everyone. The moment I hear anything about what is going to drop, I will be sure to keep you updated. It’s unfortunate that we all got excited, but hopefully whatever is being hid is awesome and worth the wait.

I’m still watching, waiting for the announcement

WoW Expansions, Once A Year?

{I thought it was funny.}

Jeffrey Kaplan stated to Kotaku recently in order to clarify comments made by COO Paul Sam:

That is our goal, and sometimes it gets taken in a weird direction,” he said. “Like you’re failing [if] you’re not releasing an expansion each year. It’s probably going to be a long time before we get to the point where we are releasing an expansion each year.

Kaplan told us that the developers who work on content and patches are the same team members who work on expansions. Those developers, he said, are “core to the quality of both the patches and expansions, and we aren’t going to sacrifice the quality of one or the other just to get an expansion out.”

Okay, so many people are in love with WoW and may find that one expansion a year is devestatingly high and dry, but can you honestly complete an expansion within a year? Well some people yeah, but a lot of us (unfortunately) must dedicate less time doing the things with love aka playing WoW. It will even itself out both for newcomers to the game and hardcore fans. Back to back expansions just isn’t a smart move for any game, in order bring in new prospects and keep the ones they have, Blizzard has to think about the overall good.

A New Nintendo Handheld

Wedbush Morgan’sMichael Pachter stated that:

The successor to the Nintendo DS could be introduced as early as this year, bringing with it the potential to spur even more growth for Nintendo. We think that the timing of a new product introduction will depend upon the sales profile for the DS, and believe that lower than expected DS hardware sales could trigger an earlier launch for the new device.

DS sales are solid worldwide, but are weak in Japan, leading us to expect an introduction of a new device in Japan before the end of the calendar year.

Slightly misleading, I wouldn’t bet that we will see the so called device, if but only through hopefully images around the web. Unfortunately I can’t spare a trip to Japan later in the year, just like everything else that we see come out in Japan…  we’ll have to wait.

Phoenix Wright: The Manga

Amazon has a listing up for Phoenix Wright books, yeah, coming out September 30th. Preorder now!

Book #1

Book #2

I myself love Phoenix Wright on the Nintendo DS. I don’t know how I feel about reading Phoenix Wright, but maybe it will surprise me. However I must say that being a part of the story is much more interesting than reading the story, but hey, that’s just me. And this coming from someone who loves to read.

“Home is Not A Social Network”

SCEE’s Darren Cairns and Liam Wickham clarified PlayStation 3’s upcoming Home Network.

Cairns and Wickham said:

Home is not a social network – it’s focused on games. It’s a visual representation of the PlayStation community.”

The focus is that Home focuses on game launching capabilities, serving as party forming lobbies.

Through Lua scripting, developers can bring the game setup options – such as number of public player slots and choice of map / game rules – into Home itself.

Based on the selections, the Game Launch Object writes out XML files with session details and players. The console then resets and loads into the game (either stored on the HDD or on Blu-Ray), which reads the XML file and launches directly into the multiplayer game. Once play has finished, control can be yielded back to Home for post-match discussion.

Regarding the roll-out of the service, they mentioned that the closed beta would be expanding imminently and that open beta is still scheduled to roll out this year. The recently-added PSN trophies will be supported in player profiles, but the large-scale 3D trophies and trophy room demonstrated at Sony’s 2007 Game Developers Conference keynote.

LittleBigPlanet Limited Space

LittleBigPlanet will only give you so much space(of course) to share all of your master mind creations, however to reward those who are popular, Sony is allowing more space to be given to you.

So, if you’re level is super awesome extreme and people flock to it like I flock to cotton candy at the fair, then you will be eligible for more space.

GamePlayer states that

If their scheme works, users who upload the most popular levels will be rewarded with more space. It’s common sense, really — when lurking on YouTube, do you look for the videos with five stars, or with one?

On the other hand, if you wanted to play Devil’s Advocate, you could accuse Sony of some subtle social engineering here. After all, server space is so cheap these days that it’s effectively free. Just think of GMail, and Flikr, and all those sites that let you upload files that are hundreds of megabytes in size — for free.

So it’s not an issue of cost — it’s an issue of quality.

Sony wants to create a sense of value for those who’ve bought their game. By rewarding the best LittleBigPlanet players with more online space — and by restricting those who, well, suck — they can make this dream a reality. Or at least, that’s the plan.

This is awesome for one reason. “..it’s not an issue of cost – it’s an issue of quality. “

To be able to get rewarded for your talent and not for how much buck you have in your wallet really makes me tilt my head at Sony and say, “Wow. You’re not money hungry!”  It’s about time. Now, someone else learn from this sense of community.
