Demon’s Soul for the PS3

In a GameSpot interview Sammy Matsushima described Demon’s Soul as being a real time RPG that has no pause screen. You are the last surviving hero in a fantasy world created with an interactive environment. At the beginning of the game you can choose from one of 13 classes such as cleric, knight, or magician. The trailer looks amazing and the system seems very easy to pick up. Matsushima advised that an expierenced gamer may take 15-18 hours to complete the game while the average gamer may take up to 30 hours. The story flow seems reminiscent of Oblivion as you choose your own path but what is unique is that level up by using soul points to gain skills and equipment upgrades. The game is scheduled for release for October 6, 2009! There is talk of a special edition including a strategy guide that will not be available through any other method. So get in your pre-orders!

Left 4 Dead 2 Compatible with L4D?

We’ve all been through the sitatuion in which we purchase new technology and what happens a few months later, newer technology releases and we’re stuck with a piece of technology that is just as good as the new technology but maybe slightly different or in this case has different levels and awesome graphics and we totally want to be able to enjoy both games at once right? *deep breath*

Well, some word from Valve’s Doug Lombardi has been announced that developers are trying to see if they can come up with a way to use L4D with L4D2.

It is definitely very fustrating to not be able to cross-play between a title of a series between the other titles on the series, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.

“BOOMER!”

Lynch King: WoW. Literally.

Wow. Here be some steins. This is actually a pretty nice looking piece of WoW paraphernalia and this coming from someone who never liked WoW. I admit I just started playing the game around a month ago and despite avoiding it for so long I have actually been enjoying myself. I always said that I would never fall into another MMO trap, but the truth of the matter is, Blizzard knows what they are doing and they do it amazingly well.

( Yeah, some pics are duplicated. ‘Cause I want you to really see how awesome it is. )

BlazBlue – Calamity Trigger

About three months ago I attended a local convention and stumbled across a fighting game that I had never heard of. Everyone around me was enthralled by Left 4 Dead, Halo 3, and Rock Band 2. In a dark corner of the room a lone gent was playing quite feverishly and I being the dork that I am must always see what is not popular at the moment because whatever is not popular at the moment is what truely deserves to be popular, in my opinion. ;) I stumbled across BlazBlue and tonight was the first night that I have played it since three months ago. The game just released in the US and luckily I have my hands on the special edition that includes the soundtrack by artists Kotoko and Hironobu Kageyama. ( By the way, the soundtrack is awesome! )

The art work alone is impressive! There are very few fighting games that keep me entertained. BlazBlue, so far, has given me a wide variety of characters (a total of 12) to play with until I find one that captivates me enough to focus on. The game comes from Arc System Works, the same studio behind my all time favorite fighting game, Guilty Gear. Take a peek at the trailer below… and drool.  :) ~

So Many Games, So Little Time and Street Fighter!

Hello out there. So, my life has been quite hectic and we all know that the economy isn’t great, but fortunately I have a solution and that solution is called Gamefly. For a $22 bucks I can keep two game as long as I need to, so guess who is back in the buisness of bringing you a straightforward opinion? Yes, that’d be me.

Street Fighter 4 came out not too long ago, as I am sure you all know. I have one word to say about ST4. FREAKIN’ SWEET! I was impressed by the art style that somehow nurished my craving for a comic-style gaming experience. The opening title song was not that great of a choice, but I suppose after a while it is catchy. It took me a record number of five attempts to beat Seth on the hard difficulty. When I first was sucked into his belly and spit out like a chewed sunflower seed I thought, “Awesome!” After the next three or four times I was annoyed by his ever glowing blue body and sought to seek and destroy. Seek meaning to find figure out the timing as the pace and timing in Street Fighter 4 took me a little bit to get used it, but once I found Seth’s pattern I was able to dominate him. It’s been some time now and I just unlocked the last trophy tonight on the PS3, but I am looking forward to getting my hands on the 360 version just for giggles. Obviously there will be no difference, but those gamerpoints are just so addicting..!

Sony’s PlayStation 3 Exclusive Announcent August 4th

Well, I am sad to say that PlayStation Lifestyle announced that they are not realeasing the so called “Exclusive” information that they had about the game with the concept title “Hardware 2″ Why does this not surprise me? Read below the blog that PlayStation Lifestyle posted regarding this big disappointment. I’m not mad atcha PlayStation Lifestyle, just disappointed.

As many of you know, our site announced an upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive, Hardware 2. Initial information about this upcoming Incognito title was given as well. This was accompanied by the decision to hold off on showing screens until August 3rd.

Today is August 3rd and I’m sure a great many of you are looking for those screens. Those of you that frequent the site will know that we have undergone a change of policy and focus. We are no longer a site that specializes in insider information. This change was not done to spite the readers or to placate developers. This decision was made for the good of the industry. The industry is currently very secretive because of the intense competition between the 3 console manufacturers. Releasing inside information can have a devastating effect on a company because its competitors are better able to counteract any new features, games, or pricing changes based on the information. Our site does not want to be responsible for this type of occurrence.

We here at PSLS are sorry to disappoint all of you. We hope that you understand that once we receive permission to do so, we will release all screens that we have in our possession. We are still waiting for a response from the previous listed developers, as well as SCEE on the subject. Thank you for visiting us. We appreciate each and every one of you.

This is Chris Rah Osiris on behalf of PSLS, signing off.

I’m sorry everyone. The moment I hear anything about what is going to drop, I will be sure to keep you updated. It’s unfortunate that we all got excited, but hopefully whatever is being hid is awesome and worth the wait.

I’m still watching, waiting for the announcement

WoW Expansions, Once A Year?

{I thought it was funny.}

Jeffrey Kaplan stated to Kotaku recently in order to clarify comments made by COO Paul Sam:

That is our goal, and sometimes it gets taken in a weird direction,” he said. “Like you’re failing [if] you’re not releasing an expansion each year. It’s probably going to be a long time before we get to the point where we are releasing an expansion each year.

Kaplan told us that the developers who work on content and patches are the same team members who work on expansions. Those developers, he said, are “core to the quality of both the patches and expansions, and we aren’t going to sacrifice the quality of one or the other just to get an expansion out.”

Okay, so many people are in love with WoW and may find that one expansion a year is devestatingly high and dry, but can you honestly complete an expansion within a year? Well some people yeah, but a lot of us (unfortunately) must dedicate less time doing the things with love aka playing WoW. It will even itself out both for newcomers to the game and hardcore fans. Back to back expansions just isn’t a smart move for any game, in order bring in new prospects and keep the ones they have, Blizzard has to think about the overall good.

A New Nintendo Handheld

Wedbush Morgan’sMichael Pachter stated that:

The successor to the Nintendo DS could be introduced as early as this year, bringing with it the potential to spur even more growth for Nintendo. We think that the timing of a new product introduction will depend upon the sales profile for the DS, and believe that lower than expected DS hardware sales could trigger an earlier launch for the new device.

DS sales are solid worldwide, but are weak in Japan, leading us to expect an introduction of a new device in Japan before the end of the calendar year.

Slightly misleading, I wouldn’t bet that we will see the so called device, if but only through hopefully images around the web. Unfortunately I can’t spare a trip to Japan later in the year, just like everything else that we see come out in Japan…  we’ll have to wait.
